General description

Benzoylnorecgonine is a major urinary metabolite of cocaine, which can be determined by a variety of analytical techniques and is often used in toxicology screening to confirm cocaine abuse.

Application

Benzoylnorecgonine may be used as an analytical reference standard for the quantification of the analyte in cocaine based products using high-performance liquid chromatography.

To characterize the transplacental effects of cocaine on the developing brain, we have developed a mouse model of gestational cocaine exposure. Pharmacokinetic analysis revealed that cocaine and its metabolites (BE, BNE, and NC) were found in fetal brain and plasma

Journal of chromatography, 613(2), 330-335 (1993-04-02)
A method for simultaneous extraction of cocaine and metabolites benzoylnorecgonine, benzoylecgonine and norcocaine from meconium was developed. The procedure uses solid-phase extraction columns with both cation-exchange and hydrophobic properties after vortex-mixing meconium with methanol. Chromatography utilizes reversed-phase high-performance liquid chromatography

Journal of chromatography, 525(1), 113-121 (1990-01-26)
An improved method for the simultaneous determination of cocaine, norcocaine, benzoylecgonine and benzoylnorecgonine using reversed-phase high-performance liquid chromatography with ultraviolet detection is described. Following solid-phase extraction, chromatography was performed using a column containing an octadecylsilica-coated packing, eluted with 6% acetonitrile

A high-performance liquid chromatographic procedure for the determination of cocaine and selected metabolites (benzoylecgonine, norcocaine and benzoylnorecgonine) from human and canine serum has been developed. The analytes are extracted from 0.5-ml serum samples using strong cation-exchange and octadecylsilane solid-phase extraction
