Biochem/physiol Actions

Derived from 141 day old normal male African green monkey fetus. Cells are free of adventitious agents and are non-tumourigenic. Susceptible HSV, vaccinia, rhinovirus, mumps, rubella, parainfluenza 3, Coxsackie A9 and poliovirus types 1-3.

Preparation Note

EMEM (EBSS) (M2279) + 2 mM L-Glutamine (G7513) + 1% NEAA (M7145) + 10% FBS / FCS (F2442).
Split sub-confluent cultures (70-80%) 1:2 to 1:3, i.e., seeding at 3-5x10,000 cells/cm2 using 0.25% trypsin; 5% CO2; 37 °C. Finite lifespan, up to 12 population doublings are expected.
