Application
SPARC has many useful properties including inhibiting cell spreading and diminishing focal contacts in vitro, abrogating the effects of PDGF and beta-FGF, binding directly to several components of the ECM, and undergoes proteolysis that exposes and releases regions in the protein that correlates with biological activities.
Biochem/physiol Actions
SPARC is expressed in many tissues including bone, skin, skeletal muscle, reproductive tissues, and embryonic connective tissue. It is expressed in high levels in tissues that are undergoing morphogenesis, remodeling and repair.
Preparation Note
This product is supplied as a lyophilized powder from phosphate buffered saline at 25 μg protein/vial. It should be reconstituted aseptically with sterile water, producing a solution of 0.1 to 0.3 mg protein per mL. SPARC is initially purified from mouse parietal yolk sac cells under conditions that preserve biological activity.
Other Notes
SPARC, or Secreted Protein Acidic and Rich in Cysteine, is a 283-287 AA Ca2+ binding to glycoprotein with an apparent molecular weight of 40-43 kDa.
Disclaimer
The lyophilized powder should be stored frozen at -20°C. The reconstituted product should be stored frozen at -70°C.

Secreted protein acidic and rich in cysteine (SPARC) is a multi-faceted protein-modulating cell-cell and cell-matrix interactions. In cancer, SPARC can be not only associated with a highly aggressive phenotype, but also acts as a tumour suppressor. The aim of this

SPARC (Secreted Protein Acidic and Rich in Cysteine) is a Ca+2-binding glycoprotein that is differentially associated with morphogenesis, remodeling, cellular migration, and proliferation. We show here that exogenous SPARC, added to cells in culture, was associated with profound changes in

An extracellular matrix-associated glycoprotein expressed in a variety of tissues during embryogenesis and repair, SPARC contains modular domains that can function independently to bind cells and matrix components. Because SPARC can selectively disrupt cellular contacts with matrix and thereby effect
