Gene Information

General description
Mouse monoclonal antibody raised against a partial recombinant BLZF1.
The gene BLZF1 (basic leucine zipper nuclear factor 1) is mapped to human chromosome 1q24. It belongs to the b-ZIP family of proteins. The encoded protein has a PEST (proline [P], glutamic acid [E], serine [S], and threonine [T]) motif, a putative leucine repeat and several phosphorylation sites. This protein is present in the nucleus, cytoplasm and Golgi apparatus.

Immunogen
BLZF1 (NP_003657, 301 a.a. ~ 400 a.a) partial recombinant protein with GST tag. MW of the GST tag alone is 26 KDa.

Biochem/physiol Actions
BLZF1 (basic leucine zipper nuclear factor 1) might work as a transcription factor. It is involved in epigenetic regulation by binding to DNMT3L (DNA methyltransferase 3 like) and also participates in Wnt/β-catenin signaling. The BLZF1 gene is downregulated in acute promyelocytic leukemia (APL) cell line NB4. On the other hand, it is upregulated in presence of dengue virus infection. BLZF1 also interacts with GRASP55 (the medial-Golgi matrix protein) and the GTP form of rab2. It is involved in the secretory protein transport and maintenance of the Golgi structure. This gene is downregulated in hepatocellular carcinoma. This low expression is associated with poor overall survival.

Membrane traffic between the endoplasmic reticulum (ER) and Golgi apparatus and through the Golgi apparatus is a highly regulated process controlled by members of the rab GTPase family. The GTP form of rab1 regulates ER to Golgi transport by interaction

BLZF1, a member of b-ZIP family, has been implicated in epigenetic regulation and Wnt/β-catenin signaling. Its expression and clinical significance in human cancers remain largely unknown. In this study, we showed that BLZF1 expression was reduced in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC)
