Gene Information
human ... TICAM1(148022)
General description
Toll like receptor adaptor molecule 1 (TICAM1) is ubiquitously expressed and possesses an N-terminal proline-rich domain, a TIR (Toll/interleukin-1 receptor) motif and a C-terminal proline-rich domain. The gene encoding this protein is localized on human chromosome 19p13.3.
Immunogen
Synthetic peptide from human TICAM1 / TRIF.
Biochem/physiol Actions
Toll like receptor adaptor molecule 1 (TICAM1) plays a crucial role as an adaptor molecule and links toll-like receptor 3 (TLR3) to interferon-β (IFN-β) promoter activation. It is also involved in IFN-β production. TICAM-1 pathway has an essential role in host protection and innate immune responses against poliovirus (PV) infection. Mutations in the gene have been associated with the development of papillary thyroid cancer, follicular thyroid cancer and differentiated thyroid cancer.
