General description

Monoclonal Anti-Myb (mouse IgG1 isotype) is derived from the hybridoma MB-8 produced by the fusion of mouse myeloma cells and splenocytes from BALB/c mice. MYB proto-oncogene, transcription factor is encoded by the gene mapped to human chromosome 6q23.3.

Immunogen

synthetic peptide corresponding to a sequence at the N-terminal region of human Myb.

Application

Monoclonal Anti-Myb antibody from mouse may be used in:
  • immunoblotting
  • flow cytometry
  • immunocytochemistry

Biochem/physiol Actions

MYB is a transcription factor that regulates stem and progenitor cells in the bone marrow, colonic crypts and a neurogenic region of the adult brain. Loss of MYB activity in these cells leads to severe or lethal phenotypes. MYB is an oncogene and is observed in some human leukemias. In addition, It is also observed that MYB is activated in colon and breast cancer.
Monoclonal Anti-Myb recognizes human and mouse Myb.

Physical form

Solution in 0.01 M phosphate buffered saline, pH 7.4, containing 15 mM sodium azide.

Preparation Note

For extended storage, freeze at -20 ˚C in working aliquots. Repeated freezing and thawing, or storage in “frost-free” freezers, is not recommended. If slight turbidity occurs upon prolonged storage, clarify the solution by centrifugation before use. Working dilution samples should be discarded if not used within 12 hours.
