General description
Potassium two pore domain channel subfamily K member 2 (KCNK2), also known as TWIK-related K+ channel-1 (TREK1), is expressed in the spinal cord, bladder and dorsal root ganglion. It is part of the TREK family.
Immunogen
synthetic peptide (DPKSA AQNSK PRLSF STKC) corresponding to the intracellular, amino terminus of human TREK-1 (amino acid residues 8-28).
Application
Anti-TREK-1 antibody produced in rabbit has been used in western blotting.
Applications in which this antibody has been used successfully, and the associated peer-reviewed papers, are given below.

Biochem/physiol Actions
Potassium two pore domain channel subfamily K member 2 (KCNK2) possesses a potassium channel activity. It has a role in stabilizing the resting membrane potential of cells. The protein is also involved in the development of rat heart. TREK-1 could act as a drug target to treat acute heart ischemia.
The antibody reacts with rat TREK-1 (confirmed). It is expected that the antibody will also react with human and mouse TREK-1 due to sequence homology (17/18).
Physical form
Lyophilized from phosphate buffered saline, pH 7.4, containing 1% bovine serum albumin and 0.05% sodium azide.
