By unlocking the power of molecular adsorption and steric stabilization, mesoporous silica can provide stable and effective amorphous formulations. As such, it is an attractive approach for improving the bioavailability of poorly soluble active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs). During the webinar, you will be introduced to the mechanistic foundations of mesoporous silica, including the accessibility and ease of lab-scale loading. In vitro and in vivo case studies will be examined to show the utility of mesoporous silica in improving bioavailability of typical BCS II compounds. In addition, the stabilization capabilities of mesoporous silica, relating to nanoconfinement in mesopores, will be discussed. Finally, scale up of mesoporous silica loading up to 100 kg production scale will be described in cooperation with Hovione, a contract development and manufacturing organization experienced in process development, scale-up and particle engineering technologies.
This webinar includes:
- A broad overview of mesoporous silica technology
- An introduction to the unique stability advantages of mesoporous silica
- Case studies of in vitro and in vivo performance of mesoporous silica formulations
- How to scale-up from lab to production scale
In this webinar, you will learn:
- Why the robust mechanistic underpinnings of mesoporous silica technology result in stable and effective amorphous formulations.
- How scale-up of mesoporous silica formulations can be achieved robustly from lab to production scale whilst ensuring formulation performance and dosage form consistency.
