（S）-2-氯丙酸是合成芳氧基苯氧基丙酸除草剂的基础材料。2-氯丙酸是生产农药、染料以及农林化学品的原料。
应用
- 2-氯丙酸用于通过炔丙醇的酯化反应制备原子转移自由基聚合（ATRP）引发剂 2-氯丙酸炔丙酯（PCP）。
- 它可用于合成具有生物活性的几丁质衍生物（1-羧乙基）壳聚糖。
- 它经邻苯二胺磷酸处理可合成苯并咪唑衍生物。
生化/生理作用
口服 2-氯丙酸诱导大鼠小脑颗粒细胞层坏死。
