General description
04:1 Coenzyme A, also known as crotonyl‐CoA, is produced from reversible dehydration of 4‐hydroxybutyryl coenzyme A by the enzyme 4‐hydroxybutyryl‐CoA dehydratase. The conversion of crotonyl-CoA to butyryl-CoA during the butyrate fermentation in the human gut releases the extra energy such as potential of mean force (PMF).
