IL-23 and IL-22 play significant roles in the progression of various autoimmune and inflammatory diseases through their effects on immune responses. IL-23 primarily drives the inflammatory response through its role in promoting Th17 cells and their cytokines, while IL-22 contributes to inflammation and tissue damage in various autoimmune diseases. Both are involved in the pathogenesis of chronic inflammatory conditions, such as inflammatory bowel disease (ulcerative colitis and Crohn’s disease), rheumatoid arthritis, psoriasis, and multiple sclerosis, making them important targets for therapeutic interventions.
