在原核生物和真核生物中均可特异性抑制蛋白质合成的核苷抗生素。适用于选择携带有杀稻瘟菌素抗性质粒的细胞。杀稻瘟菌素抗性是由杀稻瘟菌素S脱氨酶基因（bsr）所赋予的，其可将杀稻瘟菌素S转化为无毒的脱氨基羟基衍生物。
