β-桉叶醇具有很多药理作用,是存在于许多精油中的有效成分,具有抗氧化性、抗菌活性等特征。β-桉叶醇在毛豹皮樟树叶精油和台湾杉树枝精油中分别表现出抗真菌活性和抗木材腐烂真菌活性。它能抑制肿瘤细胞的增殖、生长和人肿瘤细胞的迁移。β-桉叶醇对神经系统有多种保护作用。

β-桉叶醇是一种芳香类含氧倍半萜烯化合物,主要存在于木兰树皮中,也可从日本柳杉、苍术、檀香紫檀、银杏和匙叶甘松等其他药物植物中提取得到。
