General description

The gene GSG1L (Germ cell-specific gene 1-like) encodes an AMPA (α-amino-3-hydroxy-5-methyl-4-isoxazolepropionic acid)-R auxiliary subunit containing a cytoplasmic N terminus, four transmembrane segments, two extracellular loops, and a cytoplasmic C terminus. It is mainly expressed in the brain.

Application

Anti-GSG1L antibody produced in rabbit, a Prestige Antibody, is developed and validated by the Human Protein Atlas (HPA) project . Each antibody is tested by immunohistochemistry against hundreds of normal and disease tissues. These images can be viewed on the Human Protein Atlas (HPA) site by clicking on the Image Gallery link. Biochem/physiol Actions

The gene GSG1L (germ cell-specific gene 1-like) encodes a homolog of claudin that binds to AMPA (α-amino-3-hydroxy-5-methyl-4-isoxazolepropionic acid)-receptor complex. It negatively regulates the trafficking and channel gating of AMPA receptor. This transmembrane protein co-localizes with AMPA receptors at synapses.
