General description
Pim-1 proto-oncogene, serine/threonine kinase (PIM1) is expressed at high levels in bone marrow, thymus, spleen, fetal liver, hippocampus, oral epithelium, and the prostate gland. PIM1 gene has five introns and six exons and is mapped to human chromosome 6p21.2.

Peptide sequence around phosphorylation site of tyrosine 309(H-R-Y(p)-H-G) derived from Human Pim-1.
Biochem/physiol Actions
Pim-1 proto-oncogene, serine/threonine kinase (PIM1) modulates cell cycle progression, cellular division, differentiation, and apoptosis. It participates in genomic instability. PIM1 serves as an oncogenic survival factor. PIM1 gene is overexpressed in gastric carcinoma, squamous cell carcinoma, colorectal carcinoma, liver carcinoma, liposarcoma, and bladder cancer.
The antibody detects endogenous levels of Pim-1 only when phosphorylated at tyrosine 309.
