Application

Ciprofloxacin lactate was used as standard in Rayleigh scattering technique to determine the amount of the antibiotic in various drugs.

Biochem/physiol Actions

Ciproflaxacin is a fluoroquinolone and a broad-spectrum activity against Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria. The mode of action of ciprofloxacin involves the inhibition DNA gyrase and subsequent inhibition of replication by tight DNA binding. Pathogens resistant to multiple antibiotics have been found to be susceptible to Ciproflaxacin.
