Biochem/physiol Actions
T-complex protein 1 subunit zeta-2 is a protein encoded by the CCT6B gene in humans. CCT6B [chaperonin containing TCP1, subunit 6B (zeta 2)] encodes a molecular chaperone that belongs to TCP-1 chaperonin family. This subunit is an integral component of TCP1 ring complex (TRiC) that plays a pivotal role in folding newly synthesized cytosolic proteins and preventing protein aggregation.

Many ATP-dependent molecular chaperones, including Hsp70, Hsp90, and the chaperonins GroEL/Hsp60, require cofactor proteins to regulate their ATPase activities and thus folding functions in vivo. One conspicuous exception has been the eukaryotic chaperonin CCT, for which no regulator of its
