一般描述
Gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA) receptor is the multifunctional, pentameric membrane proteins that operate GABA-gated chloride channels. It acts as major inhibitory neurotransmitter in the adult mammalian brain. It is a member of the neurotransmitter ligand-gated ion channels which plays various functions in the central nervous system, the peripheral nervous system, and in some non-neuronal tissues. At least four types of subunits (α, β, γ and δ) of GABA have been identified. Generally it contains one type of α and β subunit, and a single γ polypeptide in a ratio of 2:2:1.
免疫原
synthetic peptide from the N-terminus of the rat GABAA receptor α4 subunit.
应用
Anti-GABAA Receptor (α4 subunit), N-Terminus antibody is suitable for immunoprecipitation and western blot at a dilution of 1:1,000-1:2,000 using rat brain lysate.
生化/生理作用
GABA is synthesized primarily from glutamate by glutamate decarboxylase (GAD). It is triggered by binding to its ligand-gated chloride channels, GABA(A) and GABA(C) as well as metabotropic receptor GABA(B). Along with neural development, it is also involved in a wide variety of physiological functions in tissues and organs outside the brain.
