Biochem/physiol Actions
Glutathionesulfonic acid (GSO3), a metabolite of glutathione, is used to increase the tissue-to-plasma concentration ratio of thiopental sodium. Glutathione sulfonate is also used as a modulator of dopamine release and to study glutathione binding sites on proteins such as glutathione transferase.

The effects of glutathione (GSH) and glutathionesulfonic acid sodium salt [N-(N-gamma-L-glutamyl-L-beta-sulfoalanyl)glycine sodium salt, GSO3Na], which is a minor metabolite of GSH, on the pharmacokinetics of thiopental sodium were investigated in rats. The concomitant use of GSO3Na with thiopental sodium significantly

Glutathione (gamma-glutamylcysteinylglycine, GSH and oxidized glutathione, GSSG), may function as a neuromodulator at the glutamate receptors and as a neurotransmitter at its own receptors. We studied now the effects of GSH, GSSG, glutathione derivatives and thiol redox agents on the
