Gene Information
human ... EIF3H(8667)
General description
EIF3H (eukaryotic translation initiation factor 3, subunit H) is a part of a ~600kDa, multi-protein complex called eIF3, which is made of ten different subunits. This subunit is also called p40. This gene is localized to human chromosome 8q23.3.
Immunogen
Immunogen Sequence: GI # 4503515, sequence 1-352
Recombinant eukaryotic translation initiation factor 3, subunit 3 gamma, 40kDa
Application
Anti-EIF353 antibody produced in chicken is suitable for western blotting analysis at a dilution of 1:500, for tissue or cell staining at a dilution of 1:200.
Biochem/physiol Actions
EIF3H (eukaryotic translation initiation factor 3, subunit H) is a component of EIF3, which facilitates the binding of methionyl-tRNAi and mRNA, by interacting with 40S ribosome. The up-regulation of this gene leads to elevation in cell proliferation, growth and survival. This gene is amplified in breast and liver cancer. The expression of EIF3H is increased in prostate cancer. It helps in regulating cell growth and viability. Overexpression of the gene may provide growth advantage to the cancer cells.
