Application

Heparin-Ceramic HyperD M Hydrogel is used in affinity chromatography and protein chromatography. Studies have shown promise for employing heparin-based hydrogels as matrices for in vitro differentiation of hepatocytes or stem cells and as vehicles for transplantation of these cells.

Features and Benefits

Characteristics are tolerance of very high flow rates without bed compression, and high exchange capacity. Stable to most common solvents, and pH from 2-12.

Physical form

Suspension in 1 M NaCl with 20% ethanol

Other Notes

HyperD media are highly porous, rigid ceramic beads filled with a derivatized hydrogel.

Primary hepatocytes are commonly used as liver surrogates in toxicology and tissue engineering fields, therefore, maintenance of functional hepatocytes in vitro is an important topic of investigation. This paper sought to characterize heparin-based hydrogel as a three-dimensional scaffold for hepatocyte

Biofunctional matrices for in vivo tissue engineering strategies must be modifiable in both biomolecular composition and mechanical characteristics. To address this challenge, we present a modular system of biohybrid hydrogels based on covalently cross-linked heparin and star-shaped poly(ethylene glycols) (star-PEG)

Cell-responsive degradation of biofunctional scaffold materials is required in many tissue engineering strategies and commonly achieved by the incorporation of protease-sensitive oligopeptide units. In extension of this approach, we combined protease-sensitive and -insensitive cleavage sites for the far-reaching control over
