The gene annexin A13 (ANXA13) is mapped to human chromosome 8q24.12. It is a member of a family of 13 homologous phospholipid binding proteins. All annexins bind calcium, which causes a translocation from the cytosol to the cell membrane.

Decreased expression of annexin 13 (ANXA13) is important for apical membrane biogenesis in epithelial organization. Absence of ANXA13 perturbs epithelial cyst formation and ciliogenesis.
