Application
Interleukin-12 (IL-12) from mouse has been used to study the effect of IL-12 on Th1 (type 1 T helper) immunity in Mongolian gerbils (Meriones unguiculatus) infected with Sporothrix schenckii. It has been used as a standard in ELISA (enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay) cytokine assay.
Biochem/physiol Actions
Interleukin-12 (IL-12) was identified as a factor secreted by human Epstein-Barr (EBV)-transformed B cell lines. IL-12, or Natural Killer Cell Stimulatory Factor (NKSF), is a 75 kDa disulfide-linked heterodimer of a 35 kDa subunit and 40 kDa subunit. IL-12 is produced predominantly by monocytes and NK cells and induces T cells and NK cells to produce IFN-γ. Human IL-12 is not active on mouse cells, but murine IL-12 is active on both murine and human lymphocytes. The biological activity of recombinant human IL-12 was measured by its ability to stimulate the proliferation of PHA-activated human T lymphoblasts. IL-12 has anti-angiogenic properties.

Chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) T cell therapy relies on the activity of a large pool of tumor-targeting cytotoxic effectors. Whether CAR T cells act autonomously or require interactions with the tumor microenvironment (TME) remains incompletely understood. Here, we report an

Sporotrichosis is a cutaneous fungal infection caused by Sporothrix schenckii. It is known to be mainly contained by Th1 responses. As IL-12 is crucial for Th1 response, we investigated if treatment with recombinant murine IL-12 (rmIL-12) promoted Th1 immunity and/or
