Gene Information
human ... KIF5B(3799)
mouse ... Kif5b(16573)
General description
The gene KIF5B (kinesin 5B) is mapped to human chromosome 10p11.22. It encodes a conventional kinesin that contains two heavy chains and two light chains forming a heterotetramer. It is abundantly expressed in adipocytes.
Immunogen
synthetic peptide corresponding to amino acid residues 376-396 from human kinesin 5B.
Application
Anti-Kinesin 5B antibody produced in rabbit has been used in immunoprecipitation.
Biochem/physiol Actions
The gene KIF5B (kinesin 5B) encodes a kinesin that is involved in the transportation of GLUT4 (glucose transporter protein) to the plasma membrane in response to insulin, thereby regulating insulin signaling pathway. It participates in the translocation of certain apical proteins to the apical membrane.
Physical form
Solution in phosphate buffered saline containing 1 mg/mL BSA and 0.05% sodium azide.
