(±)-2-(对甲氧基苯氧基)丙酸可作为甜味受体拮抗剂，研究其对大鼠糖诱导胰高血糖素样肽1（GLP-1）分泌的影响。它也可用于研究分泌素肿瘤细胞系（STC-1）在(±)-2-(对甲氧基苯氧基)丙酸或乳清存在及不存在环境下对甜味剂的反应。
生化/生理作用
作为一种味觉调节剂，钠盐可以抑制人对甜味的感知，但对大鼠却没有影响。
