General description
Biphenyl is a chemical compound, which can be used by Pseudomonas putida KF715 bacteria in order to degrade polychlorinated biphenyls, an environmental contaminant. It can find applications in industries, for the synthesis of plastics, textiles, foams, electronic and also building materials. It can combine with diphenyl ether to form a eutectic mixture, which can find applications as a heat transfer fluid in thermo-solar plants.
