Strengthening Biopharmaceutical Supply Chains with Regional Manufacturing
In today’s global landscape, supply chains can be vulnerable to a variety of destabilizing factors. To best service our customers, we are regionalizing our production network to ensure access to high-quality products when they are needed, where they are needed—regardless of global events.
Our new 12,500 m² regional manufacturing facility in Blarney, Ireland, will serve the filtration needs of our EMEA customers manufacturing monoclonal antibodies and recombinant proteins, cell and gene therapies, vaccines, and other therapeutics.
This new facility will manufacture our best-in-class filters, including virus filters (Viresolve® Pro Devices), tangential flow filtration filters (Pellicon® 3 Cassettes), and sterilizing filters (Opticap® XL and XLT Filters with Durapore® or Millipore Express® Membranes) - opening Q3 2025.

Supporting Supply Chain Security, Consistency, and Reliability
This new facility is part of our growing global-local hybrid manufacturing infrastructure combining global oversight with regional production. With manufacturing capabilities that are redundant to those in our Jaffrey, New Hampshire (USA) site, the Blarney facility will provide EMEA customers with equivalent, locally manufactured filtration products. The local supply chain support provided by the Blarney facility will enable:
- Increased production capacity for filters
- Dedicated regionalized capabilities
- Minimized disruptions with redundant manufacturing
- Streamlined logistics and shorter transportation distances
The facility, located within the 70-acre Blarney Business Park, encompasses 3,100 m² of clean room space (ISO 8), 1,048 m² of analytical lab space, and automated warehousing capabilities in buildings designed to meet EU nearly-zero energy building standards.

Our broad portfolio of Durapore® and Millipore Express® membranes offers options for efficient processing of every pharma and biopharma stream, from cell culture media through process intermediates to final sterile filtration. Our membrane filters offer the highest level of sterility assurance, are available in different formats, and are supported by comprehensive documentation packages to meet your compliance needs.
Pellicon® 3 cassettes deliver high protein yield and consistent performance while offering broad chemical compatibility. They are available with Ultracel® and Biomax® membranes for different processing needs, including mAbs, plasma, insulin, peptides, and vaccines. To overcome the filtration challenges of high viscosity, our Pellicon® 3 cassettes with D screen are easy to use, enable faster processing and are optimized to achieve higher protein concentrations.
The Viresolve® Pro Solution provides a comprehensive flexible template for viral clearance in downstream processing of both mAbs and recombinant proteins. This proven virus filtration solution delivers the highest levels of virus retention and productivity across a broad range of operating conditions.

Driving Sustainable Operations
The Blarney site is designed to be climate neutral, operating with 100% renewable electricity and designed for energy efficiency. To achieve this, we're implementing advanced solutions including our proprietary Trane Adaptive Refrigerant System™ for optimal heating and cooling efficiency, an air generation system capturing wasted compression heat to supply 90% of hot water, and 100% LED lighting.
