General description
4-(4-Chlorophenyl)-1-(2H)-phthalazinone is a 4-aryl-2(1H)-phthalazinone derivative that can be prepared by refluxing a mixture of 2-(4-chlorobenzoyl)-benzoic acid and hydrazine hydrate in ethanol.
Application
4-(4-Chlorophenyl)-1-(2H)-phthalazinone may be used as a starting material in the synthesis of 1-(N,N-diphenyl-amino)-4-(4-chlorophenyl)-phthalazine, which forms a tris-cyclometalated iridium(III) complex that can act as a dopant in organic light-emitting diodes (OLEDs).
