General description
Rethink your bioinks with TissueFab®
About the material:
These TissueFab(R) xeno-free bioinks are animal-origin free, tunable, and require no UV, no temperature/pH curing, or chemical crosslinking. This bioink is modified with the bioactive peptide IKVAV to promote cell adhesion, migration, and differentiation.
Printing and crosslinking parameters:
The IKVAV peptide, derived from laminin, a major protein found in the extracellular matrix (ECM) of many tissues, is integral to supporting cell adhesion, migration, and differentiation. This specific peptide fragment within laminin has been identified for its remarkable ability to promote cell-matrix interactions. When incorporated into the TissueFab(R) xeno-free bioink, the IKVAV modification enhances the development and functionality of cell-encapsulated 3D bioprinted tissues. This advancement is particularly valuable in tissue engineering and regenerative medicine applications, where robust cell-matrix interactions are essential for the successful biofabrication of functional tissues.

Application
The TissueFab® xeno-free bioinks are versatile materials suitable for a range of bioprinting applications, including 3D cell culture, tissue engineering, and regenerative medicine. Their xeno-free (or animal-free) nature makes them ideal for studying complex cell-matrix or cell-cell interactions, while the UV-free bioprinting process promotes excellent cell compatibility for diverse applications, such as 3D cell culture, tissue engineering, drug screening and regenerative medicine. The IKVAV peptide is commonly used in various types of tissue engineering including:
- Neural Tissue Engineering: Supporting the development of biofabricated neural tissues, nerve guidance conduits, and constructs for neural regeneration and repair.
- Musculoskeletal Tissue Engineering: Facilitating the creation of biofabricated musculoskeletal tissues, bone grafts, and scaffolds for bone and muscle regeneration and repair.
- Vascular Tissue Engineering: Enhancing the biofabrication of vascular tissues, blood vessel constructs, and scaffolds for cardiovascular tissue repair and regeneration.
- Skin Tissue Engineering: Supporting the development of biofabricated skin constructs, dermal substitutes, and wound healing scaffolds for skin tissue repair and regeneration.
- Organoid and Organ-on-a-Chip Models: Contributing to the creation of biofabricated organoids and organ-on-a-chip models for studying organ development, disease modeling, and drug testing.
