16:0 Phosphatidylmethanol (1,2-dipalmitoyl-sn-glycero-3-phosphomethanol (sodium salt)) may be used as a standard in ultra-high performance liquid chromatography tandem mass spectrometry (UHPLC-MS/MS) analysis for the quantification of phosphatidylethanols (PEths) in whole blood, venous/capillary-dried blood spots (V-DBS and C-DBS).

Phosphatidylmethanol is an anionic lipid which binds to the Phospholipase D. It is categorized as an alkyl phosphate lipid under headgroup modified lipids.
