General description
Lysophosphatidic acid (LPA) is the major component of serum. It has a free hydroxyl and phosphate moiety. LPA is hydrophilic and is not associated with the membrane.
Application
06:0 Lyso PA has been used for the quantification of lipopolysaccharide (LPS) (endotoxin) levels in various commercial and pharmaceutical grade preparations.
Biochem/physiol Actions
Lysophosphatidic acid (LPA) acts as the precursor for the synthesis of phospholipids in eukaryotes and prokaryotes. It prevents differentiation of neuroblastoma and myoblast, supports in neurotransmitter release and smooth muscle contraction. LPA plays a vital role in tissue healing and wound regeneration. It binds to G-protein coupled receptors. LPA has mitogenic properties. It functions as an intercellular signaling molecule. LPA is involved in the initiation of neuropathic pain.

Lysophosphatidic acid (LPA) is a ligand for LPA(1-3) of the endothelial differentiation gene family G-protein-coupled receptors, and LPA(4-8) is related to the purinergic family G-protein-coupled receptor. Because the structure-activity relationship (SAR) of GPR92/LPA(5) is limited and whether LPA is its
