General description
Recombinant, human VEGF121 (121-amino acid splice variant of the human vascular endothelial growth factor VEGF) expressed in S. frugiperda insect cells. VEGF121 is dominantly expressed in most tumor cell lines. Forms a biological active homodimer and evidence suggests that it is also biologically active as a heterodimer with other VEGF splice variants or PIGF.

Biochem/physiol Actions
ED₅₀ ≥1 ng/ml as measured by the stimulation of ³H-thymidine incorporation by human umbilical vein endothelial cells and bovine aortic endothelial cells. In vivo effects using the 13-day-old chick chorioallantoic membrane (CAM) assay can be seen between 0.5-4 µg
Preparation Note
Following reconstitution, aliquot and freeze at -70°C. Stock solutions are stable for up to 3 months at -70°C.

Placental growth factor (PlGF) and vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) are involved in placental angiogenesis through interactions with the VEGFR-1 and VEGFR-2 receptors. The placenta of pregnancies whose outcome is fetal growth restriction (FGR) are characterized by abnormal angiogenic development

Neuropilin-1 (NRP1) was first described as a receptor for the axon guidance molecule, Semaphorin3A, regulating the development of the nervous system. It was later shown that NRP1 is an isoform-specific receptor for vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF), specifically VEGF(165). Much
