General description

Sox 10是转录因子家族的成员，参与调节胚胎发育和确定细胞去向。编码蛋白在与其他蛋白形成蛋白复合物后可作为转录激活因子。该蛋白作为核细胞质穿梭蛋白，在神经嵴和周围神经系统发育中起重要作用。sox10在多能神经嵴干细胞中表达，其表达在其分化过程中下调。该基因的突变与瓦登堡-沙赫病和瓦登堡-赫氏病有关。
