Application
The medium is used in the isolation, cultivation and identification of yeasts and fungi and is particularly useful in the differentiation of dermatophytes.
Preparation Note
Suspend 60g in 1 litre demineralised water. Boil whilst stirring until completely dissolved. Autoclave at 121°C for 15 minutes. Cool agar to 45 - 50°C, mix well and pour plates.
500mg Cycloheximide and 40mg Chloramphenicol may be added to each litre of medium before autoclaving to inhibit non-pathogenic fungi or bacteria.
