General description
CLN3 protein is involved in lysosomal function. Mutations in this, as well as other neuronal ceroid-lipofuscinosis (CLN) genes, cause neurodegenerative diseases commonly known as Batten disease or collectively known as neuronal ceroid lipofuscinoses (NCLs).
~45 kDa observed. Uniprot describes 5 isoforms produced by alternative splicing at ~45, ~42, ~37, ~35, and ~28 kDa
