Malaria is a mosquito-borne infectious disease caused by parasitic microorganisms in the Plasmodium group. LDH is the plasmodium lactate dehydrogenase, an intracellular metabolic enzyme. The pan-LDH antibody recognizes a common epitope on all five Plasmodium strains.
