Because of its high sensitivity and extreme versatility, mass spectrometry has become a popular technique for identifying and quantifying molecules within complex mixtures, in diverse research areas that range from systems biology and proteomics to environmental analysis. HPLC sample prep doesn’t have to be inefficient or painful. The ideal sample prep system for most chromatographers. If you’re using chromatography to analyze dozens of pharmaceutical samples, food and beverage products or cosmetic formulations a day, especially hard-to-filter, viscous or particulate-laden samples, you know that traditional filtration methods can result in: Slow filtration speed/clogging, Filter bursting or spillage, Sample volume loss (most undesirable for small-volume samples), and Operator fatigue. The first vacuum-driven system with the flexibility to filter 1 to 8 samples directly into standard HPLC sample vials, the Samplicity® Filtration System addresses all of the challenges facing analytical chromatographers. In this application note, we present data showing that the Samplicity® system can be used for filtration of smaller volume samples into HPLC vials containing inserts. Syringe filters prove less efficient for users typically filtering 10 – 100 samples a day (65 – 70% of users). For these users, the Samplicity® multifiltration system facilitates sample preparation by enabling vacuum-driven filtration of up to eight samples directly into standard (12 x 32 mm) HPLC vials. The Samplicity® system has been used widely to filter 300 μL – 2 mL samples into HPLC vials without inserts.
