General description

2-Hydroxy-3-methoxybenzaldehyde thiosemicarbazone (HMBATSC) can be prepared by dissolving 2-Hydroxy-3-methoxybenzaldehyde and thiosemicarbazide in methanol, followed by further filtration and recrystallization.

Application

HMBATSC may be used in the determination of molybdenum in aqueous dimethyl formamide medium using second derivative spectrophotometric method. It may be used in determination of nickel(II) using spectrophotometry.
