General description

Thin films of ammonium iodide were studied by far IR spectra from −170°C to room temperature. Laser excited Raman spectra of polycrystalline NH4I was also recorded.

Application

Ammonium iodide (NH4I) may be used in the following studies:
  • Cyanation protocol of aryl boronic acids, boronates and borate salts. It has a dual role in the protocol to provide iodide and nitrogen atom of the cyano moiety.
  • Synthesis of vinyl methyl sulfones.
  • As iodine source in the iodination of aromatic compounds.
