Application
Abberior STAR 635 particularly well suits the Abberior Instruments 2-color 775nm STED microscope and the Leica TCS STED system. It delivers high-resolution STED images with very low background signal due to its improved water solubility and exceptional brightness. The dye serves as an ideal partner for several 2-color STED packages.
Designed and tested for fluorescent super-resolution microscopy
General description
Abberior STAR 635 is a dye developed for STED and confocal imaging in the red spectral region. It features exceptional photostability, very high brightness and low background labeling. The dye works extremely well with Abberior Instruments STEDYCON and Expert Line microscopes and Leica STED microscopes. Abberior STAR 635 can substitute dyes like Atto™ 647N, Alexa Fluor™ 647, or Cy®5. It can be excited with lasers at wavelength between 630 - 650 nm. For STED, a depletion wavelength around 750 - 800 nm is recommended. Best results are obtained with freshly prepared samples.

Water-soluble organic fluorophores are widely used as labels in biological systems. However, in many cases these fluorophores can interact strongly with lipid bilayers, influencing the interaction of the target with the bilayer and/or leading to misleading fluorescent signals. Here, we

For about a decade, superresolution fluorescence microscopy has been advancing steadily, maturing from the proof-of-principle stage to routine application. Of the various techniques, STED (stimulated emission depletion) microscopy was the first to break the diffraction barrier. Today, it is a
