Application
This enzyme substrate is prepared by dyeing and cross-linking highly purified pachyman, β-1,3-D-glucan isolated from a Basidiomycetes sp. This enzyme substrate, which hydrates but is insoluble in water, can be used for measuring hydrolysis by endo-1,3-β-glucanase. Enzyme activities can be measured by the rate of release of the water-soluble dyed fragments (increase in absorbance at 590 nm).
