ZNF703 (zinc finger protein 703) belongs to the NET (Noc/Nlz, Elbow, and Tlp-1) protein family, and the corresponding gene is localized to human chromosome 8p12.

Biochem/physiol Actions
ZNF703 (zinc finger protein 703) is a frequently modified gene in the pan-cancer group. In zebrafish and Drosophila, it plays an essential role in embryonic development. Amplification of this gene leads to loss of cell-cell adhesion, and thus, an increase in proliferation and migration. In patients with head and neck squamous cell carcinomas (HNSCC), the overexpression of this protein is linked with poor overall survival. It functions as an oncogene in luminal B breast cancer and gastric cancer, and in colorectal cancer (CRC) it facilitates tumor proliferation and invasion. In CRC patients, it is linked with poor prognosis.
