General description
ASK1 (Apoptosis Signal-regulating Kinase 1) also known as MAPKKK5 (Mitogen activated protein kinase kinase kinase 5) activates JNK and p38 signaling cascades. ASK-1 is activated in response to stress such as UV and X-ray radiation, proinflammatory cytokines such as TNF-α, heat shock or osmotic shock. Overexpression of ASK1 induces apoptotic cell death. Other signalling molecules such as PP5 and reactive oxygen species regulate the pro-apoptotic signalling by ASK1 hence act as negative regulators. ASK1 has pivotal function also in a broad range of biological activities and aids the cells in adapting to varied stress factors and in induction of immune responses.
Anti-ASK1 specifically recognizes human ASK1 (155 kDa).
Anti-ASK1 specifically recognizes human ASK1 (155 kDa).
Immunogen
synthetic peptide corresponding to amino acids 1356-1375 of the human C-terminal region of ASK1.
Application
A concentration of 1 μg/mL of anti-ASK-1 is recommended for detection by immunoblotting in whole cell extract of SW1353 human chondrosarcoma cells.
Physical form
Solution in phosphate buffered saline containing 0.02% sodium azide.
Preparation Note
Reagent is sufficient for 10 blots.

Apoptosis signal-regulating kinase 1 (ASK1) is a ubiquitously expressed mitogen-activated protein (MAP) kinase kinase kinase that activates the c-Jun N-terminal kinase (JNK) and p38 MAP kinase signaling cascades. Recent findings from analyses of ASK1-deficient mice have revealed that ASK1 is

The mitogen-activated protein (MAP) kinase cascades play essential roles in a variety of cell processes by influencing transcriptional or translational regulation. ERKs play a central role in survival and mitogenic signaling, while JNKs and p38 MAP kinases are preferentially activated

Mitogen-activated protein (MAP) kinase cascades are activated in response to various extracellular stimuli, including growth factors and environmental stresses. A MAP kinase kinase kinase (MAPKKK), termed ASK1, was identified that activated two different subgroups of MAP kinase kinases (MAPKK), SEK1
