Gene Information
human ... SIRT2(22933)
General description
SIRT2 is an NAD+-dependent tubulin deacetylase that mainly occurs in the cytoplasm. SIRT2 has been implicated in mitotic exit during the cell cycle.
Rabbit Anti-SIRT2 (AB1) antibody recognizes bovine, human, mouse, rat, and pig SIRT2.
Rabbit Anti-SIRT2 (AB1) antibody recognizes bovine, human, mouse, rat, and pig SIRT2.
Immunogen
Synthetic peptide directed towards the N terminal region of human SIRT2
Application
Rabbit Anti-SIRT2 antibody has been used for western blot assays. The antibody can be used at a concentration of 0.25μg/ml for immunoblots.
Biochem/physiol Actions
SIRT2 encodes a member of the sirtuin family of proteins, homologs to the yeast Sir2 protein. Members of the sirtuin family are characterized by a sirtuin core domain and grouped into four classes. The functions of human sirtuins have not yet been determined; however, yeast sirtuin proteins are known to regulate epigenetic gene silencing and suppress recombination of rDNA. Studies suggest that the human sirtuins may function as intracellular regulatory proteins with mono-ADP-ribosyltransferase activity. The protein encoded by SIRT2 is included in class I of the sirtuin family.
Physical form
Purified antibody supplied in 1x PBS buffer with 0.09% (w/v) sodium azide and 2% sucrose.
