Application
Rabbit polyclonal anti-SNAI1 antibody is used to tag Snail homolog 1 (Drosophila)for detection and quantitation by immunocytochemical and immunohistochemical (IHC) techniques. It is used as a probe to determine the presence and roles of Snail homolog 1 in epithelial to mesenchymal transition (EMT) during embryogenesis and tumor progression.
Biochem/physiol Actions
Rabbit polyclonal anti-SNAI1 antibody reacts with human, mouse, and rat Snail homolog 1 proteins.

General description
Snail homolog 1 (Drosophila) (SNAI1), a zinc finger transcription factor, is a transcription repressor that down-regulates the expression of ectodermal genes within the mesoderm. SNAI1 triggers the initiation of epithelial to mesenchymal transition (EMT), a process that provies epithelial cells with mesenchymal features and invasive properties during embryonic development and tumor progression. Consequently, Snai1 plays a major role in tumor growth, cell invasion and metastasis.
Immunogen
Synthetic peptide directed towards the N terminal of human SNAI1.
Other Notes
Synthetic peptide located within the following region: MPRSFLVRKPSDPNRKPNYSELQDSNPEFTFQQPYDQAHLLAAIPPPEIL
Physical form
Lyophilized from PBS buffer with 2% sucrose

Epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT) is crucial for tumor progression and metastasis. Snail family members, including Snail, Slug and Smuc, are the transcription factors that repress E-cadherin expression and induce epithelial-mesenchymal transition in some tumor tissues.
