Polymerase (DNA directed), theta (POLQ) is a DNA polymerase and helicase involved in base excision repair and maintenance of genomic instability against ionizing radiations. Loss of POLQ activity results in increased DNA damage signaling whereas increased activity indicates poor cancer prognosis.
