BTA-EG4 is a probe for β-amyloid aggregates and an inhibitor of protein-amyloid interaction.
BTA-EG4 is a probe for β-amyloid aggregates and an inhibitor of protein-amyloid interaction. BTA-EG4 inhibits several different Ab -binding proteins from associating with aggregated Ab peptides. It inhibits catalase-Aβ binding interactions in solution by forming protein-resistant surface coatings on aggregated Aβ (1–42) peptides. These coatings reduce the toxicity of aggregated Aβ, causing an increase in cell viability.
