Gene Information
human ... CA9(768)
General description
Carbonic anhydrase 9 (CA9/CAIX) is an enzyme encoded by the CA9 gene in humans. It is also referred as MN and CAIX. It belongs to Carbonic anhydrases (CAs) family that catalyzes the reversible hydration of carbon dioxide. It is a metalloenzyme that is localized to the membrane. It is involved in pH homeostasis with an effect on regulation of cell proliferation, oncogenesis and tumor progression. MN/CA IX is the only tumor-associated CA isoenzyme located on chromosome band 9p12-p13. It act as a marker for renal cell carcinoma. It is used for patients with advanced mesothelioma. CA9 is useful in differentiating CRCC from ChRCC and oncocytomas, distinguishing low-grade CRCC from normal renal tubules in small samples, separating ICC from HCC and identifying metastatic CRCC from other metastases. Under hypoxia, the CA9 increases, which is related to poor prognostic factors and a functional mediator of cancer progression.
Immunogen
synthetic peptide corresponding to amino acids 131-145 of human CA9
Application
Yale Center for High Throughput Cell Biology IF-tested antibodies. Each antibody is tested by immunofluorescence against HUVEC cells using the Yale HTCB IF protocol. To learn more about us and Yale Center for High Throughput Cell Biology partnership, visit sigma.com/htcb-if. Anti-CA9 (131-145) antibody produced in rabbit is suitable for western blotting at a dilution of 1:500-1:2000.
