General description
The gene CtBP1 (Carboxy terminal binding protein 1) is mapped to human chromosome 4p16.3. It belongs to the CtBP family of proteins. The protein localizes in the cytoplasm and the nucleus.
Immunogen
对应于人 CtBP1 的氨基酸 432-440 的合成肽。小鼠和大鼠相应的序列分别有一个和两个氨基酸的差异。此肽不与 CtBP2 发生交叉反应。
Application
Anti-CtBP1, C-Terminal antibody has been used as a primary antibody in western blot analysis of HIC1 (Hypermethylated in Cancer 1) proteins. It is also suitable for immunoblotting (48kDa), microarray and immunoprecipitation (5-10μg using extracts of K-562 cells).
Biochem/physiol Actions
Carboxy terminal binding protein 1 (CtBP1) is a NADH-dependent transcriptional repressor. It interacts with human polycomb protein (HPC2). It is able to bind with adenovirus type 2 and 5 E1A protein, and inhibits transcriptional activation and tumorigenesis mediated by the E1A protein. It is a co-repressor of BCL6 (B-cell lymphoma 6 protein) and Epstein-Barr virus oncoprotein EBNA3A. ZNF366 associates with CtBP1 to repress estrogen receptor-α (ERα) activity. Nuclear and cell adhesion-related phosphoprotein, pinin, binds with CtBP1 and releases the CtBP1-mediated repression of E-cadherin promoter activity. It represses expression of several tumor suppressor genes and regulates epithelial-mesenchymal transition during cancer cell metastasis.
