Application
Investigation of the properties of malignant mesothelioma cells and the development of new diagnostic methods.
Biochem/physiol Actions
Mice (CBA strain female 6-8 weeks) were exposed to crocidiolite asbestos through intraperitoneal injection resulting in tumour development (both ascites and solid tumours). Cultures were established from malignant mesothelial cells obtained from ascites fluid. Cells are tumourigenic in syngeneic imunocompetent mice. Cells grow as adherent monolayers and are epithelial like. Cell Bank Australia reference number: CBA0152
Mouse malignant mesothelioma
Preparation Note
Optimal split ratio 1:8 - 1:16 (seeding density 0.6 x104 cells/cm2).Cells incubated at 37°C with 5% CO2.Harvest the cells using 0.05% Trypsin/EDTA at 37°C for 5 min.
RPMI1640 (with 2mM L-Glutamine+ 25mM HEPES) + 5% FCS

Cultures from HPA Culture Collections and supplied by Sigma are for research purposes only. Enquiries regarding the commercial use of a cell line are referred to the depositor of the cell line. Some cell lines have additional special release conditions such as the requirement for a material transfer agreement to be completed by the potential recipient prior to the supply of the cell line. Please view the Terms & Conditions of Supply for more information.
